In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
