Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved programs including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per media reports.

"He never met a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a message.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils during his career and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
