Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
